Inexpensive Flights no Excuse for Bad Conditions
Discount flights may be all that some people need to get on the flight but customer service is also becoming big. Consumer advocates are nudging airport companies to sign a “Passenger Bill of Rights” that will shield people when a plane has to sit because of weather or other difficulties. Right now, there is not much that consumers can do or expect no matter how much they may have put on the line for their airline tickets. Passengers in Minnesota were forced to spend the night on the tarmac when weather conditions forced a delay of the flight. Another airline allowed its passengers to get off and then hired a car to drive them the eighty-five miles to their destination. Continental did not. Stranded passengers complained that there was no food and that the bathroom overflowed. There were little ones on the flight as well adding to the nightmare situation. The aircraft was operated by Express Jet Airlines and the company has now compensated passengers a refund for the flight and a voucher for future trips. It is no wonder that people are choosing other types of transportation for their flying needs. People are looking for bargains and deals and cheap airfare is one of the items that they need. No matter how much passengers spend for airline tickets, whether they are cheap airfare or first class, each person expects to be treated well. Being stuck in a plane just a few feet from the place they started for 6 hours is not good. Airlines need to get their customer service act together. It pains the whole industry when one company steps into such a horrible situation and leaves the passengers out in the horrible weather. All of the cheap flights and discount airfares in the universe can not make up for treating customers horribly when they do take a plane.
